Ah oh, yeah I see what you mean. And I didn't know that news, thanks for the piece of news, that makes me even less wanting to try out masto as in its original form. glitch and hometown or whatever other forks exist, might not be a bad solution, but we use go to social here, and it's good for a few users, especially if you're the owner of your own instance and stuff. :)
@tardis I'm on the glitch-soc fork, but it's a soft fork, so if masto goes to shit, so does glitch. I have been eyeing GotoSocial for a while now, so once I'll get to a state where I have time to deal with migrating, that's the first one I'll take for a test drive.

It's nice software really, lighter than glitch, so that means more users can join, you can follow more instances without having too much strain, etc. We're federating with over 6000servers, if I got a eur for every server we federated with, I'd be some damned rich person. ;)
I would be sad if you disappeared of the little corner of the fedi. I will have one friend less I interact with sometimes. And I still haven't figured out what your name means. :) but I like it, I give it a thumbs up.

Let me think if I will say correctly, but I am pretty sure it is. that book is, quite interesting. I don't remember if I read it all. I have had memory issues in the past, so a lot of the things I learned or read, I now slowly try to remember. Some work when I start reading things from the past friends remind me of, some just show up like that, poof! But yeah, might be same book. That's a good book.

I've been looking at #GoToSocial for a while now, and I am almost ready to make the jump. There's a few things I got used to that I cannot part without, though:
I need the Move activity to be able to migrate over, rather than restart. This is likely going to land before I have time to migrate, so yay!
I'm used to toot editing by now, don't want to delete & retoot, because that breaks existing favs and conversations. I can live without this, and just accept the typos, but would be nicer if I didn't have to. This may or may not land in GotoSocial by the time I want to migrate.
Markdown posts. This is the reason I am using glitch-soc. This is must have, and it appears GotoSocial supports markdown input. Yay! Even more, it appears its markdown support is superior to glitch-soc's!
Server side filters, because I use them heavily. This isn't a must have, but would be a strong preference to have it. I see there's a PR about it open, so there's a chance it will land before I plan to migrate.
All in all, GotoSocial is looking like a solid alternative!
There's also a chance that I don't need to migrate, if a viable fork (based on glitch-soc) emerges. Any fork of the Mastodon codebase that doesn't have the glitch-soc features is not one I am willing to migrate to.
I have considered other fedi software, but I am not willing to migrate to anything Pleroma or Akkoma based. I have my reasons, they're mine, they're not going to run on my server.
Nor am I willing to migrate to anything that doesn't support the features I came to like and rely on.
