I think that'd be "to wget somthing".

"To curl something" would be more like "to hand-craft a web request and inspect the response headers"

I always use "curl" as a verb in technology to mean making any HTTP call without a browser. Be it to download a file, get a payload, etc.

I once got really excited that they had curling at the winter olympics but it wasn't what I expected

I always thought that "to curl your hair" had nothing to do with the internet. But with all those "smart" appliances nowadays, you never know. 🤔
