Interesting to see #gnome post about their #macOS CI builder issues the day after I posted a video about "understanding who your open source constituency is".

It's pretty clear that macOS users are not Gnome's constituency. Fine. But it also goes to show just how much #inkscape, #gimp and other Free Software downstream must also not be their constituency because we're so misaligned on this topic and there's no discussion about our relationship with gnome

What discussion? We are asking for help with our CI runner. If you want to help, we'd appreciate it; if you don't want to help, then why are you complaining?

We've had the macOS CI runner for years; we've asked GIMP devs to help out; we've asked people using/contributing to the macOS backend to help out; we haven't seen anything.

Honestly, it seems to me you want to whine for the sake of whining—and it wouldn't even be the first time. What do you want from the GTK team?

@ebassi

Have I made a complaint?

I didn't put details in my toot because I thought it would be rude to call out specifics when there are more interesting and wider ideas for people to think about.

René will be in touch with your in a few days to talk more about the specifics.

You made a whole video complaining about GNOME being a "closed" community; you also said that the GTK project don't see GIMP and Inkscape as "our constituency", when in reality we have *asked* for help because we know GIMP and Inkscape support macOS. You don't get to do "who me" after that; at least own up your words, instead of weaselling out of what you wrote…

If this is the response I get from the Inkscape community you represent, then next time I won't even ask the Foundation to rent a macOS machine like I did four years ago; or *beg* for help when sysadmins want to decommission it because it's just sitting there without anybody caring.

This is not how you participate in a community, Martin. This is how you just use something other people do, and then turn around and complain when they don't jump high enough for you.

Not really, and I'd appreciate it if you cut down the snark. Otherwise I can always block you, and be done with it.
