so for #audiomo, day 18, I know I haven't posted a lot on the hashtag recently, but I found this while digging through some old files, Originally recorded with yours truly on the piano, 11/17/2015. I had to flac it to get it to upload, but have an instrumental of only hope by Mandy Moore. I've got a couple more in I'm gonna save for days 19 and 20. but enjoy. If I had the access and the room to setup, I'd probably play like this again.

Firstly, I have not heard you play before so that's very nice.
Secondly, what piano?

@FreakyFwoof you know what sucks? I don't completely remember, I think this was done in the auditorium of the blind school, I don't remember if it was a performance, or just us putsing around before or after a rehersal for something else. I've got two more from that timeframe, but the other two sound like I was in the studeo playing with their equipment and not in the auditorium.
in reply to Andre Louis

@FreakyFwoof it's got to be the auditorium, because for some reason the piano's hanging out sort of on the right so that tells me it was a live and unproperly miked recording, but I can't figure it out fully because it must have been an empty auditorium or everyone was that captivated their wasn't a sound from others in the room.
in reply to Munchkinbear

Well there's all sorts of other instruments in there, and it's recorded very tastefully.

@FreakyFwoof that would be the school band as I pulled up the raw recording from another recorder, I need to nock off the handling noise as I'm getting set up, fuck I sound young in that recording, and yeah, that's the auditorium, just before a concert and their fuckin' with the mics and it looks like that was the last thing we played before everyone came in just to make sure everything was in tune and setup correctly and apparently I asked for a live feed from the board and got it, ah the memories recordings bring back. No wonder I kept that specific wave. :-)
in reply to Andre Louis

@FreakyFwoof but yeah, I pulled the compressor off and it actually raw came out well, considering what we were dealing with back in those days on sight. We didn't have the accessible tech we do today. that's for sure. :-)

I have college recordings from the early 2000's using all hardware and digital tape instead of Mac/PC to record stuff. Crazy old madness.
in reply to Andre Louis

@FreakyFwoof I don't anymore, but we used to master stuff from open reel (sometimes digital sources) to DAT with outboard processors, then burn CD's in real time using toslink from DAT to CD. That's a part of life I don't miss much.

you know, if your gonna squish a flac I upload into mp3, you could do me the pleasure of letting me upload the wav so you could at least turn that lossy instead you useless jerk. sigh, #annoyed #audiomo #mastodon.
in reply to Munchkinbear

No difference in squishing a flac or a wave file, so why not a flac? Half the size, half the time to upload.
