@NVAccess were you able to download the huge log I sent? what I did was grab the log right after it was happening. it was a rather huge file, so someone threw your name when I said I thought the log file might be too large for email asked me if I could give you a downloadable link, so I did that. if you read it backwards you would be reading where it was happening, so you don't have to try to sift threw a 10 meg file. I don't know how to read those logs very well at all, so I didn't want to try to cup most of the log out.
@NVAccess it's all good. I just hope you can figure anything out with that thing. I personally don't have a clue how to read those logs, but I was seeing a whole mess of studio addon debug things while I was typing from what I could understand in the log.
@NVAccess and the thing is I wasn't even in studio at the time. in fact it was in my system tray. I was writing tootws as you will be able to tell by the key presses. lol.
There is quite a lot from SPL in there, isn't there? Including a couple of freezes which look linked to it. I also found one for C:\Users\jammi\AppData\Roaming\nvda\addons\navSounds\globalPlugins\NavigationSounds\
Definitely disabling SPL is the first thing I'd try looking at that log - and chatting with the author to see if they're aware of any issues.
Looks like Christopher Duffley is the current maintainer - I think that's @ChrisDuffley - are you the Station Playlist add-on maintainer? And if so, can you help @JamminJerry with the add-on causing freezing at all please?
@NVAccess the nav aounds doesn't seem to do that at all though unless it did happen one time, and I didn't reolize it? smile. I am still running with the studio one disabled, and I still haven't seen any freeze ups.
Sometimes if one thing is playing up, it can cause issues with other things - and sometimes you'll get something which triggers an error in the log, which then tries a different way of doing whatever it was trying to do which works, and you never notice an issue. - A lot of people find that second one when they try NVDA alpha or beta releases - they beep when an error is written to the log, and sometimes you'll hear that quite a bit with no noticeable issue or problem.
kind of like when I am closing something and I hear that error sound, but nothing was acting up. I think I know what you are talking about as I have run alpha, and betas before.
Yep, ideally it's good to resolve those issues as well - but if it's a choice between fixing an error which causes a beep and a mark in the log but nothing noticeable, or one which freezes NVDA, then we'll go for the one with higher impact first, hence there are some in there like that
@NVAccess the only other issue I am having, and I don't know how to figure out what addon is causing it to happen is when I try interacting with lists in crome with NVDA is when I am trying to up or down arrow in them, it highlights the next item, but quickly jumps to back to the top of the list, or something like that.
I haven't seen that one reported elsewhere - is it with any particular browser / website? If you disable all add-ons and restart (press NVDA+q then down arrow to "restart with add-ons disabled" and enter, you can check if it happens still - if it does, then it's probably not an add-on.
@NVAccess yes, someone from NVDA had me do just that, meaning restart NVDA with no addons running, and it doesn't happen at all, so that is why I said, I now need to try to figure out what addon is causing this to happen.
