I like: URLs with slugs in that give me a clue to the title/theme of the content before I click.

I dislike: #Mastodon apps truncating URLs for display.

It's not the masto apps, but masto itself I think, because each URL is about 20 characters long and as far as I know no previews.

@tardis It's the apps, because I'm using one right now that doesn't do it. The full URL is retained for apps to use, otherwise they wouldn't be able to open them in your browser, and I'd like them to offer me the choice of opting out of truncation.

@tardis For each link, an app has access to both the full URL, and a pre-truncated version. The developer guidelines suggest that the latter should be displayed to users, but an app isn't gonna get banned by most instances for giving users a choice of opting into the former. docs.joinmastodon.org/api/guid…

To be fair, I don't know much about this, but I like they are shorter. And I don't use Mastodon anyway. But we all have different opinions.

What I just said. I don't use mastodon. I'm connected to it, but the software is not mastodon. It's go to social.

No, it connects via the protocol to mastodon, but migration is a thing now, so you can move to a go to social thing. Account, instance, I don't know how to call them anymore. Anyway, it's different. Visit my instance's website and you'll see the difference between it and mastodon. And no, you can't connect to one via mastodon's official app as far as I know.
