In Welsh myths, pigs originally came from the Otherworld, a gift from the fairy king Arawn. The Welsh point to all the many different kinds of marvelous food one can turn pigs into (bacon, sausages, pork chops, etc.) as proof that pigs are magical creatures.

In Wales, if you want a bwca or bwbachod (a goblin who cleans your home), then leave out a cup of cream each night (or better yet, a cup of ale). However, bwcas hate teetotalers. If you refuse to drink alcohol, they may kick you or throw your plates at you.

#today on the sands of Talacre beach N.E. Wales, our elderly whippet Meg came alive again in the October sunshine, the clean sea air, and the freedom of the wide open space - like she used to be before old-age lethargy set in. We rarely see this Meg now. Another trip to the seaside soon, methinks.

Last time I used regionally appropriate dialect in a translation of #Hagio’s Poe Clan, a reviewer complained. What are they going to say when they see the new Poe stories, which begin on #Anglesey, where the majority of residents speak Welsh? To top it off, it’s set in 1944, when the percentage was presumably higher. Time find a #Welsh consultant. I’m totally serious. If you or someone you know is fluent in Welsh and knows how folks in those parts speak English, please drop me a line! #Wales #manga #Shojo #MotoHagio #ThePoeClan
