Didn't the Canadian public just give Air Canada $5.9B in a covid bailout the year before their execs got these salaries in 2022?
From Ben Thomson on X:
"Air Canada Executive salaries:
CEO M.Rousseau: $12.38 Million
CFO A.Kazzaz: $3.1 Million
COO C.Landry: $2.93 Million
CCO L.Guillemette: $2.74 Million
Exec VP A.Meloul-Wechsler: $2.0 Million

Flight attendants deserve to get paid for their work. Solidarity with the striking Air Canada flight attendants ignoring the back to work legislation.
Turns out Sec 107 was put forth under The Right Honourable Brian "GST" Mulroney. (Bill C-40, 1985), PC. The Liberal way: let Conservative put anti-labour legisation so that they can use it later.
Workers voting CPC vote against their own interests. And LPC too.
The Minister Of Labour isn't anti-union. They are anti-Labour.
Sec 107 should be struck down by the SCC. All the Union should unite against that section.
Also if the Government think an Air Canada strike is so disruptive, maybe they should (get the Competition Bureau to) investigate whether Air Canada dominant position on the market has a negative effect.
My guess? Crickets. See the recent CRTC policy decision in the telecartel.
Maybe it's time for the flying crews to call in sick. Stage a walkout. Make sure you do that for any flight where a MP (or other politician) is on board. Make sure to be heard. I have the power.
"Ladies and Gentlemen. A member of Parliament is on board. They are OK with us working for free. So we are not gonna work for this flight today. Thank you for your comprehension."
I hate Air Canada as a corporation. They are one of the worst airlines I have flown with. Short of Swiss Air and Ryan Air.
But I am in total solidarity of their workers that want to be paid for the job they are doing.
The actions of the Government in legislating them back to work but not legislating that all worked hours must be paid is a direct afront to worker.
The same affront that the "capital gain inclusion rate" make labour income more taxed than lazy income (trust fund).
If the Government can legislate Air Canada flying crew back to work, then they can surely legislate a prohibition on the free labour that airline impose on them.
The fact that the Government of Canada still hasn't issued a travel advisory for traveling to the US is a general failure of our Government to protect Canadians.
Just to reiterate the reasons:
- no gender recognition
- the use of bathroom is subject to sexual assault
- the SS force (ICE) kidnapping people
- people detained at the border without justification
- All the guns and the fentanyl

#AirCanada is proving it is run by scumbags who like their multi-million dollar salaries yet will lockout employees, cancel flights, etc. rather than simply pay its employees for ALL the time they are required to work for the company.
5 months since Mark Carney has become Canada's PM. Anyone know how much effort he's put in so far to stop relying on USA tech giants' products for the federal government IT infrastructure? How much money spent to move to alternatives not under US control? Vague plans to invest in Canadian companies isn't enough, the government should already be moving away from USA tech whenever possible.
Because I haven't seen anything concrete about it. I hope I missed something.
Carney is having a virtual cabinet meeting about Palestine statehood later today. Contact your closest Liberal MP.
"We know you wasted your time replying to our email. Thank you for that, we like hearing from you. But this email is not monitored. Go fuck yourself."
(from a political party)
It's the daily reminder that the Prime Minister cancelling the raise of the inclusion rate of capital gain for tax purpose is not a measure to help the middle class. It's a tax break to the rich.
Only 50% of capital gain are taxable, that mean the hard-earned-labour cash is taxed TWICE as much.
The inclusion rate was for above 250K. Taxes on 250K capital gain are as much as tax on 125K of hard-earned-labour.
PM Carney is a Con-servative. And capital gains are lazy income.
"Long before Prime Minister Mark Carney made sweeping election promises of harnessing artificial intelligence to boost productivity in the federal bureaucracy, AI programs were hard at work in the public service.
Whether it’s tax questions, addressing Phoenix pay issues, translation services, or drafting documents, it seems there’s an AI bot for that.
In fact, the annual report about the federal public service itself was developed with the help of generative artificial intelligence."
------
"Last month, PSPC’s Translation Bureau launched an AI translation tool prototype called PSPC Translate, spokesperson Jullian Paquin confirmed to The Hill Times.
The prototype was designed after a “noticeable decline” in translation request volumes, which suggested employees were using external translation tools like Google Translate and DeepL, an AI translation tool, Paquin said.
“To address this, the Translation Bureau sought to provide a secure, high-quality alternative that reflects Canadian linguistic standards and ensures data confidentiality.”
The tool is not intended to replace human translators, but to support the day-to-day communication needs of employees, and to reduce reliance on “unvetted external platforms," Paquin said."
I’m very disappointed in Carney, he’s actually a Conservative. I don’t think Poilievre would have been better, but at least I wouldn’t have been lied to.

Make no mistake. This is a USA automaker and oil company hit job on the independence and sovereignty of the Canadian economy.
They are trying to reverse the inevitable so they can continue their own businesses as usual for as long as possible.
It can't be allowed to happen. Canada is already lagging far behind other nations. Our Economy and our Society and our burning forests, will suffer if our government gives in to this pressure.

It's one day before #CanadaDay, and Mark Carney is surrendering to Donald Trump.
City council, the mayor, borough councils, borough mayors, #assnat, MNAs, MPs, #hoc, etc. have known this for a while... you'd think something/anything would've been said and done BEFORE June, right?
Right?
Nope, not in Montréal. Not in Québec.

Wow. Solid majorities in the Liberals (60%), NDP (69%) & the Bloc (78%) all oppose Mark Carney using #BillC5 to override environmental regulations for fast-tracked projects.

Trust me, if it happened in Ontario, it happened here in Québec, and across Canada! Corporate lobbyists and apologists for corporate landlords and investors are trying to say they're not to blame for the housing crisis.
If you're a landlord renting out a property for 3x-5x what it would've rented for ~5 years ago, you're the problem, too.
And you should be ashamed of yourself.
