I don't think we're really losing people that much more than would be expected when there's a new bandwagon to jump on. Not to Bluesky in particular anyway, I think not being able to retain more of the previous waves of people who came here happened way before Bluesky became a thing and Bluesky has historically even suffered from the exact same thing so it isn't wise to imagine it is some perfect version of this even though it is currently gaining traction just like Mastodon did before it.

That said, certainly there's reason to look at what Bluesky does do well and what could be done on fediverse platforms to make the experience better. I'm excited to see the #FetchAllReplies effort looking like it will fix one problem that has existed for a long time.
