I think it is easy as experienced roleplayers and larpers to forget that one of the roles of mechanics is to tell players "what is possible."

When I was a magical professor one of the things I talked about was that my role in the fiction was to provide _permission_. That's one of the major roles of mechanics: to provide permission without having to ask someone.

The rules aren't there to limit you, they are there to enable you.

As experienced players it can be easy to forget that.
