#StroongeCast E63: Kiss Appropriately youtu.be/_HAs5jTJSDk

This week we discuss various kissing scenarios such as public displays of affection, cheek-kisses mostly done by some European countries, whether a father kissing his daughter is acceptable or not and more.

Why does F4 feel like a boob?
Why do Jake's friends think his dad is a lazy sod?
Why does being guided around all day make you want to go sit in a quiet hotel room and jump on dating sites?
Why did an angry mum smack her child and say 'WE don't smack?'

Questions questions.

Welcome to StroongeCast Clips,

a selection of highlights from various episodes.

We're gonna start with episode seven, Jake and

Alice.

- Well, my friends are really baffled by it.

They're like, "How does your dad get around the

house?"

Or like, "How does he play piano?"

Or like, "Does he do daily life activities?"

- What do you say?

What do you tell them?

- Um, usually he's like,

well, he like feels with his hands

or he just gets used to it

'cause everything is in the same place most of

the time.

- For me, all of my friends,

none of them know how smart you actually are

with computers and stuff,

how you use your phone or whatever.

And I always try to describe voiceover to them,

but they never understand it.

So- - You've gotta show it.

- Oh, you're saying- - Yeah, I could show them.

But yeah, they just think you sit at home like a

sod

and just do nothing, I think.

(all laughing)

- They don't understand how you do anything.

- Wow.

- I'm the sodding dad.

I do nothing. - That's hilarious.

- That's what they think. - Priceless.

- They're like, "How does he type?"

Especially with the piano stuff.

They're like, "Oh."

- Episode 20.

- Synesthesia.

What was, maybe you should share the one with the

piano key.

- Oh gosh.

That's kind of a bit weird.

People think I'm quite bizarre.

- Well, when we read some of the others out,

I don't think you'll be the only one.

- There is one note on the piano,

which is F4 on the piano, right?

So C4 is the middle of the piano for a lot of

people.

So F4, which is the F above C4,

is the feeling of a boob.

Yup.

In the palm.

I have no answer for why that might be.

So if you're drinking tea and you take it this,

I apologize.

But I can't tell you why that is the case.

I just know it is the case.

Episode 44.

- Communication is key.

- I was so claustrophobic by the end of those

two or three weeks,

because I had to be guided everywhere.

All I wanted to do at the end of the day

was go to the hotel room or sit on a balcony.

And at the time I was single,

so I just go on a dating site.

And that sounds really sad, doesn't it?

But that's all I wanted to do,

because it was the only time I could get some

head space

where I was sort of in my own head

and I didn't have to think about other people

or other people taking me or where am I.

Because I think what people don't realize

is about being blind,

that your adrenaline circuits are on maximum

firing

all the time.

So although you're guiding Andre, Kirsten,

and that's sort of, I can't think of the right

word,

but that's an activity that you're undertaking

and it's you're keeping an eye on him.

Andre's also guiding himself

'cause he's avoiding stuff

and getting out of the way of things

and listening constantly.

So he's probably knackered after a day of that,

just as you're knackered from guiding him.

- Episode 47.

- Cruise cast.

And then you're gonna make me say

what happened next, aren't you?

- Unfortunately, because it was one of the most

scary things

that's ever happened to all of us, I think.

So whilst Jake had gone, he ran.

Obviously it was a very stressful moment

because we were thinking,

well, what if he's lost all of his stuff

if someone's taken everything?

And, or what if he doesn't get back in time?

Like, what do we do?

And we were at this bus stop, sat there,

and I started to feel a bit strange,

just queasy.

And I thought, I feel sick because it's the

stress,

the anxiety of, oh my gosh, what do we do?

And then my ears started to sort of cloud over

and I couldn't hear anything.

And I was feeling really, really dodgy.

And I said to you, I feel like I'm gonna pass out.

I've never passed out in my life, never fainted,

nothing.

So I don't really know, but I just, I felt really

awful.

And I sat down on the floor because the bus stop

was just one of those tiny little, not even a

bench thing.

I sat on the floor and I could feel my whole head

just completely go fuzzy.

I couldn't hear anything.

And then the next thing I remember was a man crouched

down

in front of me saying, are you okay?

Are you okay?

- Yeah, he did.

- And I sat up and went, I think I just fainted.

And he went, oh, okay.

- Episode 60.

- Do you believe in smacking?

When Jake was a toddler, I used to take him to

this group

and there was a mum there with her,

I think it was a little boy.

And I think he'd gone and hit another child or

something.

I mean, he would have been like 18 months to two

years old.

I mean, we're talking little.

He really, he didn't have many words at all.

And he'd hit another child, I think, not hard,

just in the way that they do.

And she went up to him and smacked him on the

hand

and said, we don't smack.

- That's okay, right, sure.

- And I just remember being so baffled by that.

How can you say to a toddler that, I mean, any

child,

but to a very young child who barely even

understands

the world yet, I'm gonna do something to you,

but you're not allowed to do it to anybody else.

- Thanks for listening.

And we will catch you next week.

- Bye.

#StroongeCast E62: Leave It As You Found It youtu.be/By1agI4lB6Q

This week we discuss the bad builders, the lazy workmen, the unthinking delivery people that don't leave things as they found them. From bath sponges as drain cleaners, to drinking cups as paint stirring devices and more.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/62_-…

#StroongeCast E61: Thoughtful Or Playful? youtu.be/CAeI9Xk3Z1A

This week we go back to the Talking Hearts cards, as we had a quiet week in one case, and a busy week in another, which didn't give us a chance to find a different topic. The cards gave us some thoughtful or playful questions to ask one another however, which ended up leading down some curious rabbit holes.

Got a few seconds to lend me your ears? Those few seconds could turn into over 24 hours if you get interested in what I have to say, so hear... I mean here, this is the thing.

My lovely wife @MoonCat and I do a weekly podcast together discussing life, the universe, adulting, parenting teenagers, growing up in the 90's, memories, traditions, food and so much more.
No sponsors, no ads, you won't hear 25 minutes of VPN infomercials, nothing like that.
Just us talking together, sometimes we bring a guest on, that sort of thing.

If you want a blurb of every episode to-date, you can check out @StroongeCast and decide if something catches your attention.
It's anthology-style, so no reason to start at the beginning and work your way forward, just jump into anything you like.

Whether you listen online or offline, like to download to something not your phone, whether you're a fan of youtube, Apple podcasts, Spotify, Downcast, Overcast, RSS or something completely different, we've got you covered.

#StroongeCast E59: The Keyboard That Hates Me youtu.be/f7ygWycpNUE

This week we discuss the idea behind Trick or Treating, whether it's more of a thing in the US rather than the UK, thoughts on Halloween and our experiences with the supernatural.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/59_-…

#StroongeCast E58: The Art Of Compromise youtu.be/EiOgoXK9Pww

This week we discuss the art of compromise in a relationship, what roll disability plays, the ideas behind parenting and the fact that neither of us drive as this was a major wish for each of us.
Kirsten is also suffering from a cold, so we kept the episode short.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/58_-…

#StroongeCast E57: How Do I Know It's Real? youtu.be/IukVfpWSAdk

In this episode we discuss the prevalence of AI in the media, online and elsewhere. It's hard to avoid the topic, as it worms it's way into our daily lives whether we want it to or not.

Kirsten discusses it's use in beauty magazines and videos on social media, whilst Andre explains his interest in the music service Suno, and how he uses that service to recreate tracks he's written with AI's help.

AI is a cautionary tale, and it's advised that everybody fact-check everything they see, hear and read especially these days. Take everything with a grain of salt.

#StroongeCast E56: Adulting youtu.be/jwJ2rNCZy7c

In this episode we're talking adulting. What's it like?
Is it annoying?
Why did we ever think that being responsible for buying food would ever be a fun thing to do?
Credit cards, yes or no?

Were there things that you thought would be fun to do as an adult but now you have to do them, you wish you didn't?

#StroongeCast E55: What's On Your Kid's Phone? youtu.be/egcK5mGPL2Q

In this episode we discuss the control that parents have over their children's phones or tablets. At what age do you give your children a device? Do you give them one at all?

The minefield of managing apps for children is a difficult one, and it can be difficult to get a balance between very strict control making your child feel stifled, or zero control allowing them to come across extremely unsafe material that no child should ever see.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/55_-…

#StroongeCast E54: Growing In Confidence youtu.be/SxtSbkEABzc

In this episode we talk about the fact that it's our one-year anniversary of the podcast, how we think it's gone so far, some of the things we may cover in the future, and how Kirsten has grown in confidence over the last year.
There was a time when she'd have refused to be on mic at all, but doing this weekly has made it easier for her to talk to you.
We also touch on the audio quality of some of our favourite podcasts and how some of them unfortunately fall flat, which is surprising, given the budget that some have access to.

Lastly, a new, personalised birthday greeting should you want it. We're starting up a short audio segment called 'Stroonge Cards' which is a personalised greeting from your friends over at StroongeCast that sounds similar to the podcast.
If you'd like such a greeting yourself, please get in-touch to tell us when your special day is, so we can record it for you.
This of course doesn't go out on the podcast itself, it will be sent to you directly.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/54_-…

#StroongeCast E53: Boyfriend Or Heels? youtu.be/jyb8LFlbUOM

In this episode we discuss a video in which a man complains about his partner wearing heels to a party.
He feels emasculated, and demands that his now x-girlfriend not go out in heels as it makes her taller than he is.
Kirsten and Andre both decided this is a red flag and partners should not attempt to control what the other is wearing unless there is a compelling reason to do so, such as Andre going out in mismatched clothing by mistake, since he cannot see what colours are likely to clash with one another.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/53_-…

#StroongeCast E52: For Example... youtu.be/SkSO3Bb57mc

In this episode we discuss ways in which we as parents do our best to set good examples for our children. From not swearing or arguing, to behaving kindly to one another, we think that good manners cost nothing but a little time.

Kirsten was on a bus and noticed an angry woman swearing at the bus driver in front of her teen-age sun which sparked this episode. For one thing it's bad manners and for another, it sets a terrible example for that child.
By doing so, the mother normalises that behaviour and it may make the child think that it's also okay to do the same things under the same circumstances.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/52_-…

#StroongeCast E51: Playground Collectibles youtu.be/EoDkdmdiDdc

In this episode we discuss the items we used to collect as kids back in the 90's, and some of the more modern trends such as Labubus and Jellycats.

Kirsten remembers collecting Pogs and Spice Girl cards, whilst Andre didn't collect much of anything, though he remembers the old beep and bloop LCD games of the late 80's early 90's heard around the school playground.

What did you collect as children? Do you collect anything now? Did your parents tell you about anything they collected as children?

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/51_-…

#StroongeCast E50: Can You Adam And Eve It? youtu.be/jhzBVnFC1Ww

In this episode we tell you about Kirsten's theatre trip to see a murder mystery, Andre tells us about interviewing a famous Steel Pan artist Andy Narell, discuss the local phenomena known as Cockney Rhyming Slang, catch you up on our fun shopping trip and pizza outing and thank all of you for making it to episode 50 with us.
It's been a lot of fun and we hope you'll stick around for the next 50.

It's also Kirsten's birthday as well.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/50_-…

#StroongeCast E49: Broken Nails And Stranger Things youtu.be/B238_y0gGk4

In this episode we tell you about Kirsten's theatre trip to see 'Stranger Things' live, Penny's broken nail, discuss our favourite ice cream and the fact that Andre probably doesn't dislike it as much as he thought he did, Notting Hill Carnival, Kirsten's birthday and quite a lot more.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/49_-…

#StroongeCast E48: Back To Reality youtu.be/EKE3EBd19bo

In this episode we're home after our holiday, and it's a bit of a hard bump back to earth.
Between the 31C heat on Tuesday, to the return to normality, it feels a little like it didn't happen at all.
We do have all the videos, recordings, photos and memories to prove that it did however.
We also have a wish for a much larger bed, since the ship bed spoilt us for how spacious it was.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/48_-…

#StroongeCast E47: CruiseCast youtu.be/fCq-vD8LmB4

In this episode we discuss the cruise so far, our stops, the ship, the food, the experiences we've had and those we're yet to have. We also find out about a missing bag and Kirsten fainting at the bus stop.
The good, the bad, the do's and the don'ts it's all here, with apologies for the different audio this time around as we record on-location.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/47_-…

#StroongeCast E46: Bon Voyage youtu.be/UEoQLUPkr40

In this episode we discuss holiday packing plans, methods for keeping sane during high-stress situations where there are many moving parts and making sure you have all the necessary documents to-hand, so there's less worry when you're finally ready to leave home and relax.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/46_-…

#StroongeCast E45: What Do You Like To Read? youtu.be/mTIPtVn9ZVY

In this episode we discuss some of our favourite authors, book series and ideas for future reads. Kirsten reads on Audible and Andre reads EBooks on his PC.
They have a few favourite authors in-common and whenever a book from one of them comes out, they like to buy it, read it and then talk about it with each other.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/45_-…

#StroongeCast E44: Communication Is Key: youtu.be/4XwWBOrg9zM
In this episode we discuss the merits of proper communication in a relationship and how stressful it can sometimes be to make your thoughts understood without offending your partner.

Ed tells us about some of the holidays he's been on which caused him to feel claustrophobic and stifled when he'd just like to sit down with a good book and relax, whilst Andre and Kirsten explain the difficulties they had aboard a cruise ship for their tenth wedding anniversary, and how they failed to talk things out properly. Six years has allowed them to look back over that holiday and talk things out better for next time.

We'd like to thank @ednun_p for being guest number one on the podcast and hope to have many more in future.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/44_-…

#StroongeCast E43: Why Are You So Jealous? youtu.be/nekGM37YgJs

In this episode Kirsten explains an article she found in which a woman suffers from severe jealousy due to a medical condition known as Othello Syndrome. We discuss what would cause us to be jealous in our relationship, explain reasons why it doesn't really apply, but also how it may become a problem if the right conditions were ever reached.

Some information from the article:
The idea of the lie detector test came after Steve made a passing comment about not having done anything wrong, and would "even take a lie detector to prove it," which spurred his wife to make a purchase. This happened right at the beginning of their relationship, when they lived very far away from each other.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/43_-…

#StroongeCast E42: Don't Treat Me Like A Princess youtu.be/7T1vZxQc9QE

In this episode Kirsten delves into an article in which a woman expects princess treatment from her husband in restaurants or whenever they're out together as a couple.
From ordering her food, to tying her shoelaces, nothing is seemingly off the table.
Our opinion is that this behaviour somewhat infantalises a person, and allows them to avoid adult responsibilities in these situations.
The couple have children as well, so if this is also continued in the home, it becomes normalised and thus the children may expect it from their partners when older.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/42_-…

#StroongeCast E41: Seven Deadly Tins youtu.be/-P-dn5lqL-Q

In this episode Andre again headed to Mastodon to ask a question of the fediverse.
'What seven things would you absolutely *not* want to eat from a tin?'
A lot of answers came in and we also add our own.

If you live in a place that adds nasty things to tins you think we should know about, we'd love to know more.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/41_-…

#StroongeCast E40: See How You Do! youtu.be/ojRbDI-9SVM

In this episode we ask a few questions of one another that your partner should know about you.
can you answer these about your partner or friends? How much do you really know?
We also talk about the difference in heat between places like the UK and the Caribbean, and the fact that UK houses don't often have AC, so are harder to cool down during hot spells such as the one we're currently under.

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/40_-…

#StroongeCast E39: Is It Just Us? youtu.be/ULu-w78LIyA

In this episode we discuss how difficult it is for Kirsten and Andre to call each other by name when addressing one another directly. Apparently it isn't just us either, but we haven't found a name for this particular phenomenon. When on the phone to friends or family, it seems perfectly normal to do so. We only realised we had this strange problem almost 18 years into our relationship, so we started to research it.
We also try to work out why both our TikTok accounts have seemingly been banned from the platform permanently, which is a discovery we made when we woke up this morning.

#StroongeCast E38: Animal Encounters Of The Stroonge Kind... youtu.be/Zgzln4bK2Mk

In this episode we discuss all sorts of Stroonge animal encounters from our own experiences, and those submitted by you.
From a sneaky sneezing rat, to a late-night horse-encounter, to a squirrel squirreling itself away behind the radiator, it's all here.

Thanks to all the contributors that submitted stories for this episode.

#StroongeCast E37: Busses And Birthdays youtu.be/2i8d50Et9wE

In this episode we discuss Andre's birthday and those he shares a birthday with, and hear about some of the crazy experiences Kirsten has had on busses this week and in-general.
If you have an unusual public transport story of your own, please share with us.
For next week's episode we're also looking for your stroonge animal encounters, be they scary, funny, completely mind-boggling or anything else in-between.

#StroongeCast E36: Childhood Memories youtu.be/iATpXs7ycVE

In this episode we go back to our childhoods and discuss those memories that have stuck with us.
Whether mundane, naughty, funny or unusual, anything goes.
From unlocking childproof locks, to being scared by unexpected vacuum cleaners, it's all here.

Thank you to all those on Mastodon that sent in their childhood memories for us to discuss this week.

#StroongeCast E35: I Would Never Do That Unless... youtu.be/zGW-iCWD7Yw

In this episode we discuss things that we'd never choose to do under normal circumstances, unless things were so dire that we had no choice.
From robbing a bank, to eating pineapple on pizza, the choices are certainly out there.
What thing or things would you never do?

Download: onj.me/media/stroongecast/35_-…

#StroongeCast E34: We Don't Care To Swear youtu.be/NF_JqqZPu0A
