One of the most important things I consider when choosing a social media platform is whether people can read what I post without being nagged or forced to create an account. For many of my friends who don’t really care about #Mastodon, gultsch.social is just a website they can drop by occasionally to see what I’m up to.

That's right. And it's available from the web and with direct link to a post if necessary.

I assume, that this is the case for most free social networks, because they don't have the #VC pressure to fake as many #MAUs as possible?

@debacle This can apply to some commercial social networks too. Twitter used to be pretty decent at this. Bluesky currently handles this fine too. However the risk with commercial networks is obviously that this can change. See Twitter/X as an example of this.
