I know this is a very small thing but I do miss the startup tune when first running the NVDA installer. #NVDASR

@robini71 To be clear, not having it isn't going to make or break my experience with the screen reader but it has been a long-standing tradition, possibly going back to 2009.

@robini71 Was an interesting read on why they did it. For some it took too long and delayed the install.

We know - it was just there was an issue with the installer which made it safer to remove the sound - hopefully it will be something we can reinstate again in future.

Note that it is only for the installer, the regular NVDA startup / shutdown sounds still work as normal.

@NVAccess Agree! It's like the "Intel inside" sound. The McDonalds jingle sung at the end of their commercials: "ba da, ba ba ba", here in the US. I view That NVDA sound as part of your branding. Fingers crossed it'll return when all is right for it to return. :)

@NVAccess hi, if the sound can not be restored then some indication of loading would be nice?
exammple, nvda installer loading... or something?
currently we can't tell if anything is happening at all.
at least when we had the nvda jingle we new that the installer was on it's way.

@mhussain We weren't able to include anything for 2025.1, but it's certainly something to look at moving forward (note, NVDA couldn't simply SAY something - since to broadly summarise - it's that ability which is being unpacked initially.

I won't miss that overly loud, distorted installation music. They need to make it better, so making it disappear for now as a good idea.

@GamingWithEars am I the only one who likes that? It lets me know the thing is loading and that I actually snag the stupid User account control. I’ve had several UAC prompts hide behind other windows.

@evilcookies98 @GamingWithEars I liked it and miss it but if removing it solved problems then I'm all for removing it.

@GamingWithEars I think removing a helpful queue is kind of dumb. Those UAC prompts are a pain in the rear.

@evilcookies98 @GamingWithEars No I like it too, it has been there for so long, it was the thing that told me yes it was loading, and this is NVDA.
