#blind #mac #voiceOver users, I'm working on a #stream idea to essentially set up a mac from scratch for efficiency/productivity for a blind power user and am gathering tricks, tools and techniques to include in said stream. I know about the obvious like VOCR, Hammerspoon, launchers like raycast/alfred, specialized apps like Drafts/Logic/Vmware Fusion/BBEdit/VS Code, even more specialized stuff like RCMD, Vollama and Shortcat, maybe some Rogue Amoeba stuff. I will also mention VoiceOver features like hotspots, item chooser, fastSearch and activities. Is there anything major I am missing? @FreakyFwoof @pitermach

I think you hit nearly everything. If we're talking power user stuff then perhaps it might also be worth bringing up tdsr for better terminal accessibility.

Sounds like pretty much everything I can think of, as long as you point them at tons of good hammerspoons and also TDSR.

Shameless plug but it's true, My Mac feels broken without Recmon, Audioswitch, and MenuExt. Triggrd and transpoon too.

@TheQuinbox Haha I can relate. Hammerspoon in itself is a rabbit hole. If we're talking launchers I'm personally a LaunchBar guy, but know many people who are happy with both Alfred and raycast... That last one I personally refuse to hate but its developers actively don't seem to be interested in improving its accessibility but some people are willing to put up with it so I'll mention it.

I'm personally an alfred user, I have nothing against launchbar but Alfred is the one I tried first and it hasn't annoyed me into switching away from it yet.

@TheQuinbox I'm also on launchbar, switched from alfred as I like LB's file management more. Fantastical for calendar is my daily driver for all scheduling things. Also, VO keyboard configuration is good. I've got bunch of opt plus letter combinations opening / focusing various apps.

@TheQuinbox I seem to recall seeing that it got better as of recently so I figured I'd add it to the list yeah, alfred/launchbar I personally have more experience with as well

@TheQuinbox Yes I use Recmon too, but don't know if you were ever able to update it to show other things like RAM or fanspeed or well, I dono. Anything else.

I haven't released it yet, but I do have a version in the works that shows RAM usage and wi-fi information with Bonjour. Fan speed isn't a bad idea either.

@TheQuinbox Have a look at stats if you haven't. It lets you display things like CPU and ram usage in the menu bar or with a hotkey. It may not be as quick as recmon so I have both but it makes up for it with info. For example, nearly all of the icons like CPU, RAm, Disk and Network will show you the top few processes that are using those resources.
