Is there anyone among my followers using Audio Technica ATH M60X headphones? I am trying to match a 1-quarter-intch adapter to their cable but none I have fit. A customer supporter (LOL) from Audio Technica says that any should fit but this does not seem to be the case here. Should I be looking for a specific adapter on Amazon? Thanks for any advice! #audio #headphones #audiotechnica

According to the internet, all three cables terminate to a 3.5 mm male plug. You can probably connect any threaded female 3.5mm (eighth inch) threaded adapter to it which terminates to a 6.3 mm (quarter-inch) male connection, no?

@twynn Well, this particular cable needs to be screwed into the adapter, hence I am not sure it is a "normal" situation. If so, then I wonder if those kinds of adapters have a name I should be searching for?

I have honestly found it easier to replace the cable, which comes with an adapter, than finding an adapter with the right thread size and depth. I also ran into this with my AKG K371's. There are so many of them, and while they are all the same electrically, physically, that's just not the case. You can get a really generic adapter without a thread that isn't recessed, but that isn't great long term.

@BorrisInABox Thanks. Done just that and when the cable arrived earlier today, there was no adapter inside. When I called Audiotechnica, the guy told 'me that they do not sell with adapters and that any should fit. This answer I found rather strange, hence my asking here.

Oh, well that's dumb. I can tell you, because I'm sitting here looking at them, that I have at least three different adapters that aren't compatible with each other's mating threads. Either they're too deep, or the threads are the wrong size.

@BorrisInABox OK, I think I found a kindred soul here. Let me call them back tomorrow then. I certainly cannot confirm that any 1-quarter-inch adapter fits their cable.
