I wouldn’t even mind ads, I really wouldn’t, if they didn’t slow down my browser, overwhelm my screen reader with stupid announcements, and perhaps even were accessible. The first two are most important though. :)

Right? I always tried to browse with ads unblocked because if I'm reading free content, sure, I'll help pay for them if ads do that. But I just couldn't any more because they just make things so unusable. This is especially true on mobile, which is particularly nasty on iOS because unless you're using Safari, you can't run an ad blocker. Thanks for that Apple.

@jcsteh Well, “no ad blocker” I understand — business. But I filed a feature request to allow us toggle live regions just like we can do in Mac OS, but so far no go… :)

You can use ad blockers in Safari, so I don't understand the business case for not also allowing them in other browsers. Particularly when Safari is free/bundled with the OS, and other browser apps will be using WebKit anyway... for now. @jcsteh

@jscholes Personally, i think Apple were forced to allow other browsers but they didn't really want to. So, they do just enough - but only just enough - to comply with the regulations, while still maintaining an advantage that no one else can achieve. Disclaimer: opinions my own, no evidence, not my employer, all that. @vick21

@jcsteh Not at all. Thanks for the clarification; an unfortunate but unsurprisingly Apple move. @vick21
