Some time ago we had a discussion here about the best successor to the Soundscape app. Was it Voice Vista that people agreed on or was it another app? Thanks for any hints! #accessibility

I'm using Voice Vista here. It seems to be the app that is having the most work on it.

@douglawlor Thanks. I think you may have been in this discussion. I would like to give VoiceVista another shot. I see it has inapp purchases? What for? :)

Those are to just to support the developer if you want. He charges $11 Canadian for one year. He got my money. It isn't a requirement.

@douglawlor @mreumann Do you happen to know why some point of interest names have the word "yes" appended to them, at least as far as announcements go? For example, Voice Vista will name a ,building but append the word "yes" right after it. Any ideas? ,
in reply to victor tsaran

@douglawlor sadly, I've heard this myself, but I do not know why this is being done either.
in reply to victor tsaran

@mreumann I'm not sure if I am hearing this on the walks I take. It could be possible I'm tuning out certain words if they are repeated often enough. I'll take a walk with this tomorrow to see if I can notice anything. I also may have something turned off in the settings.

@mreumann Those are categories which can be disabled in Settings. Go into the Settings tab and activate Callouts Settings. Make sure the POI Category switch is off. I believe that should fix it.
in reply to Doug Lawlor

@douglawlor @mreumann That is, of course, if you don't want to hear POIS, right? Thanks for the tip! :)
in reply to victor tsaran

@mreumann You should still hear the POI announced. You will not hear the associated category.

I use Voice Vista. It's essentially Soundscape but it has some nice additional features.

@tink Yep, Just had a chance to give them a good run here in Philadelphia! Pretty cool! I wonder if you or anyone else happen to know why I hear the word "yes" after some of the landmarks? "yes" for what? :)
in reply to victor tsaran

Hm. Haven't noticed that, but haven't used it in a while. I'll listen out next time I do.
