Do you spot the trick?

This is a cookie banner shown before using Google search in some countries.

"Reject all" is a straightforward option. It appears in the same size and color as "accept all." It uses bullets, simple and concise language, and visualization. It has links for further info. So far, so good.

But there is a trick. Do you spot what is it?

ah yes... they will still use cookies to track what you're seeing and where you're clicking at, because google.

At least they're kind enough (or actually obliged enough) to tell you.

spoiler

"for these 'additional' purposes"

as in, we'll still do nefarious shit. but only 98% nefarious

First 3 will be accepted by pressing the “Reject All” button

"we will not use cookies for these additional purposes"
A trick? This is a scam! They redefine the word "all" to mean whatever they want.👎 !

It's unfortunate, to put it kindly, the amount of effort we have to put in to maintain a modicum of privacy. It's ridiculous. These companies are abusive.

@Lapineige This is not a trick. Only cookies based on consent could be refused. The real trouble is analytics must be consent but it's not.
in reply to Tuta

audience measures and site statistics remain tracked even when you reject all.

Also the Reject… button should be
on the right, as customary

Also their “Accept All” button is actually a few pixels larger, which may or may not be intentional, but kind of gives the feeling accepting all is the main option.
