under 'Languages & Appearance'
Click on 'Colours'
Default has Text = White, Background = dark

in reply to Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox • • •sometimes a message go to the dark mode while it's normal white on dark mode interface when I do a reply. Only time I see a dark background in messages.
Workaround, select all and change background to white works for me.
