Notwithstanding that, it needs to be resisted. At some fairly low percentage of a different semantic meaning for the tag, the original meaning is lost catastrophically. The impact is mist significant for analytical uses.

in reply to Pietervdvn • • •man_made=chimney AFAIK is used for industrial chimneys (mainly tall standalone ones) not ones of the sort found in the Vatican.
Reusing the tag for the one on the Sistine Chapel would degrade the semantics of the existing objects tagged man_made=chimney.
This may have already hsppened if someone used it in micromapping houses.
