Hello !Friendica Support,

is sharing as a quote no longer possible with Friendica? At least I can no longer find the button.

This thread reminds me to the discussion, whether the unlock screen could be mistaken for the telephone dial screen... or some heated discussions about content warnings.

I can understand why it seems confusing. I guess someone would expect quote mark to quote comment text into reaction instead of sharing it.

Maybe someone here can find better icon for it for better #UX ?

#UX
in reply to Schmaker

Actually, the icon already explains what is behind it. I should have just clicked on all of them and seen what happened.
in reply to Montag

@Montag Well, I'm not #UX expert, but when you have to click/hover on icon to find out what it's doing, then the icon is not well chosen :)
in reply to Montag

@Montag No need to click. Mouse hover will show a tooltip (at least on desktop).
in reply to Schmaker

@Schmaker @Montag he probably got used with the previous one :D otherwise idk, it seems self-explanatory to me as well.

That one would work too, but I guess pretty much any from these could be enough Share icons

2nd and 4th are imho the best fitting as I don't find much difference in "quote share" and "share" for linking someones post

in reply to Schmaker

The difference is essential. The latter links to the whole thread existing under the OP, while the former starts new thread with the piece you linked.

Somehow I missed that "boost" is actually called "reshare" in Friendica. My bad.

I'd actually like more if (not that it would matter :) ):
- reshare was called boost instead
- quote share was called share instead

@Schmaker
Nothing is "boosted/angekurbelt" here. It implies an intention to exaggerate something. This is something I would expect from companies that care about the attention economy. Something is happening here that I would describe as pointing to something.

As I said - I don't think it matters what do I think (I actually thought it's called boost in Friendica too until now :) )

To me boost feels more logical as when I share something, then it's me who shares it - not the original poster. When I boost, I give original post new (my) audience - boosting it's viewer count in process

"boost" is a word that is solely used by Mastodon. I don't appreciate to use their word, but to use more generic words instead.
