My nearly-10-year-old #prosody configuration is becoming a mess. I'm thinking about restarting my #xmpp server from scratch. Maybe to switch to #ejabberd by curiosity.
That we keep maximum compatibility with older configs is a blessing and a curse! We have some config files over 15 years old in production, just tweaked as needed to work with newer versions 🙂

Meanwhile the default config that ships with Prosody is updated on every release. It could well be worth starting from scratch, or at least diffing it: https://hg.prosody.im/0.12/file/tip/prosody.cfg.lua.dist
No hard feelings if you want to try other servers though. Goodbye is not necessarily forever 🤓
