The city of Vienna is doing this right! On their official website, under the section dedicated to audible traffic lights and other accessibility features for blind and partially sighted pedestrians, not only are the implemented solutions described in a great detail, but you can also listen to samples of how the lights will sound when they're red and green. An mp3 download of the samples is offered as well. It's cool that somebody thought it a good idea to include the sounds that an #Accessibility solution makes. I feel prepared now! wien.gv.at/verkehr/ampeln/sign… ##Austria #Wien #Blind

On a related note: shoutout to the random passer-by who accidentally got caught on the record and has forever been immortalized on the official Vienna website.

I was in Vienna last Summer and I believe they are also using the Lock EI DI app. I had forgotten it was on my phone, suddenly it piped up telling me it activated the traffic lights signal for me, which had indeed become more noticeable. However, it didn't work reliably. If you're an iPhone user, maybe you'd like to give it a try: apps.apple.com/app/id114680965…

@SunDial79 Thanks for the heads up. I actually recognized the company as one of the participants at Sightcity but I have never yet come across any of the traffic lights powered by their tech. Will have to check that out.
