After applying to 4 universities, I received 3 offersβ€”RMIT, CSU, and ECU. I’ve decided to go with CSU as their honours and masters programs are fully online. Since I’m also interested in sociology, I’ll be starting with the Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology). The best part? I only need to study for just over 12 months because I received credit for several subjects from my previous studies.

I start next week with Foundations of Psychology 1 and 2. I already have access to the materials, and it looks absolutely amazing. Many of the concepts feel familiar since they align closely with neuroscience. Thank you all for your well wishes as I explore this new direction!

Exploring the Consciousness of AI Systems

A fascinating article that examines the question of whether current or future AI systems might have consciousness. The paper, titled "Consciousness in Artificial Intelligence: Insights from the Science of Consciousnesss", was authored by a team of leading researchers in the fields of AI, neuroscience, and philosophy of mind.

This is a thought-provoking and timely article that delves into one of the central questions in the field of artificial intelligence - the nature of machine consciousness. I encourage anyone interested in the intersection of AI, neuroscience, and philosophy of mind to read the full paper, which provides valuable insights and a framework for evaluating the consciousness of AI systems.

The article can be found on the preprint server arXiv at the following link:

Can #typos make lies seem less deceptive or make true statements seem less true?

β€œtrue statements with grammatical errors and unusual word choices were seen as more deceitful, and lie statements with the same language were seen as less deceptive” and β€œI discovered a new brain response that is sensitive to the difference between perceived truths and lies.”
