Need to view the recovery key for a FileVault-encrypted Mac in order to, for example, reset its login password? If you opted to allow your Apple Account to be able to decrypt your Mac, the key is stored and viewable in the Passwords app on your signed in devices like any other credential; just select your Mac's name in the list of accounts, and then click or double-tap the key to show it. #TipTuesday

Need to mute a tab that's playing unwanted audio in Safari on macOS? You don't need to try to locate a button on the website or in Safari's toolbar, just choose either "mute this tab" or "mute other tabs" from the Window menu. You can additionally map keyboard shortcuts to these commands in System Settings > Keyboard, so you can mute tabs with just a keystroke. #TipTuesday

Have certain folders you always want quick access to in macOS? Add them to the Finder sidebar so they always appear under the "Favorites" section, as well as the "Where" popup menu in open and save dialogs, by selecting them in Finder and choosing File > Add to sidebar (or pressing Command-Control-T). Remove an item by focusing on it in the sidebar and choosing "Remove from sidebar" from the context menu (accessed by pressing VO-Shift-M). #TipTuesday applevis.com/podcasts/quick-ti…

Just go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Always on display, and toggle the "Always on display" switch off. #TipTuesday applevis.com/podcasts/how-disa…

By default, some categories of iCloud data, like login credentials and health information, are end-to-end encrypted, while others, like backups, photos, and iCloud Drive files, aren't. To encrypt all iCloud data except mail, contacts, and calendars end-to-end, turn on Advanced Data Protection in Settings (System Settings on macOS) > [your name] > iCloud > Advanced Data Protection. #TipTuesday support.apple.com/en-us/108756
