Well, K-9 was a very good mailer on Android. Hopefully it will only get better.
But please, get rid of shoving us threaded view though our throats! Put a disable treaded view for all account in the general settings!
I absolutely loathe threaded view, and after each updat it's back globally in all accounts and folders.....

Nice idea to keep the K-9 flavor.

So i guess it also will be still available via F-Droid.

And it will also be possible to install both flavors at the same time, right?!?

@nick How can you not love a little robot dog! We're happy he's sticking around.

And yes, both apps will be on F-Droid and yes, you can have both installed alongside each other!

made me reinstall K9 few weeks ago in anticipation of the switch to Thunderbird:)

@isazi We're glad we could use our powers of influence for good! We hope you're enjoying it now - and keep enjoying it once the transition is finished!

for the name and logo thing you could also meet in between, perhaps? Have the Android counterpart to Thunderbird be "Bolthound" or something, keeping the dog theme and following the Firefox/Thunderbird naming convention. Bonus: the bolt would refer to a lightningbolt, mirroring Thunderbird's, well, thunder.

That is awesome! I believe I've been using Thunderbird for Linux since about 2000 which is when I professionally left Windows. Congratulations!

I'm looking forward to trying :thunderbird: Mobile on my :lineageos: Tablet via F-Droid once it's finished & released. As a longtime user having an :android: build would be awesome.

Better to take some more time to prepare a proper release – looking forward to it and kudos for keeping Thunderbird on @fdroidorg.

Still, any news about future encryption options, especially via #OpenPGP? Pretty much all #Android email clients rely on #Openkeychain to manage all your keys. Sadly it is still unmaintained and desperately needs a replacement or someone to take over development. Look at issues like this: https://github.com/open-keychain/open-keychain/issues/2856
#Thunderbird for Android will also rely on this unmaintained app.

@cryptgoat @fdroidorg Hey there! Thanks for this question, and we've brought it to the Thunderbird for Android team. It's close to our end of year break, so if we can't answer before then, ping us on January 2!

I thinks it is no good idea to keep K-9 around, because it will decrease the ranking of Thunderbird on Google Play and therefore it's visibility.
