I would simplify all this: Everything that has exceeded the time X is removed from the izzy repo. If you still use it, you can install it from the original repo.

We want people to be able to use their "old" devices as long as they last them (no need to throw things away just because $someCorp wants to sell you something else – that would be wasting valuable resources just for $someone's profit).
