Hello, all. I was just asked to DJay a wedding in a few months. The couple getting married wants the music set mixed with a constant flow, not just a bunch of songs. Does anyone know of accessible DJay software out there that is easy for blind people to use? This is not something like station playlist. I'm talking about DJay softwar that you would use at clubs, partys, for beat matching, ETC. it also needs to connect to spotify. Any platform is open for discussion, accept linux. *grins* #Accessibility

Please try my software, Drop Deck. Built in playlist order that has great cross fading, plus, you can pipe audio directly from Spotify and other computers at a breeze. It can not directly connect to Spotify and load songs, this is more of a SPotify native application, however, it's worth checking out if you have direct mp3's of the songs the client is requesting.

@Tony Gebhard @Joe G For real DJ mixing, beat / key matching we are using @Mixxx DJ Software. It can be used exclusively with the keyboard, can play the mix locally or broadcast to icecast. It needs a bit of learning, even the screen reader accessibility of #mixxx can be improved, but I know some talented blind deejays who can make some good use of that.

@Mixxx DJ Software Thank you for nice words, for being usefull and available during all these years, even for being open to further accessibility improvements.

Almost a year ago I have posted some preliminary summary and some ideas related to screen reader accessibility in this github issue. I have commented on both classic as wel as QML based UI and I still find it relevant today.

I'm still stuck on trying to improve screen reader access to QML based library controls.

I can share my little tweaks and continue seeking more help if you find those comments I've posted understandable.

It turns out I may not be competent enough to make significant progress on my own but I assume together we can make it happen.

I am mainly looking into existing QT / QML accessibility features, common sense, keyboard controls and screen reader usage. I haven't used AI for this.

Huge thanks for pointers, hints and words of encouragement you may add.

@pvagner thank you so much for your admirable patience on this issue. We're sorry the progress has been so slow. We currently doing a lot of work on the QML interface, especially the rebuild of LateNight in QML (mixxx.org/news/2026-06-06-gsoc…). If you're willing to join us on Zulip we might be able to fix some of the low-hanging fruit, like choosing a good default focus point on startup.
