#Revolut decided to actively force users to only use #PlayStore instead of privacy focused app stores. The app no longer works when installed on @GrapheneOS via #AuroraStore.

Revolut claims that it values security, but once or twice a year takes intentional actions to prevent users from using more secure and private alternatives to android.

GrapheneOS is way better and hardened compared to the spyware most mainstream OSes have become.

Has anyone found a workaround not involving sandboxed play services and api?

Can anyone recommend an alternative to Revolut, similar in functionality, ease of use, and fees, which works on GrapheneOS?

You can still use Revolut if you install it from the sandboxed Play Store.

We already have a feature to check the Play Store source stamp and then bypass install source checks inserted by the Play Store for apps explicitly enabling it. We plan to extend this it to bypassng checks done by apps themselves which has become rarer due to the standard Play Store feature but as you can see is still occasionally being done.

We bypassed the previous checks added by Revolut and can easily bypass this one too. The main issue is that they're clearly on the path to eventually enforcing the Play Integrity API which we can't realistically bypass over the long term so we aren't trying to do it. Google actively detects spoofing including via fingerprinting methods and will crack down on large scale bypasses. Strong integrity also can't simply be spoofed.
