Yeah I was saying with a bit of tongue in cheek - Though of course every person that learns about #froid is also one that probably gets more exposed to #osm. I don't like purity spirals so you know let a thousand flowers bloom and all that.

I was just perhaps suggesting that froid might be your preferred app store since it allows more direct connections between you and your users - I'm all about #ownedmedia

You guys are doing a great job though and getting onto #playstore is a great achievement. - Some people play #candycrush - For me its Mapcomplete

Reason might be simpler then you could possible imagine, in my humble subjective opinion: Google PlayStore is explicitly for tracking the user and with in-app purchases to squeeze every little money out of there is.

Your own App don't do anything of the above mentioned malicious capitalism and anti user friendly behavior. 😉

According to a study by @kasnder (author of the app "Tracker Control")

"… 85% of apps
from 2017 could send data to Alphabet/Google, compared to 89% in 2020. Apps
still widely send personal data to tracking companies based in a third-party country
without an ‘adequate’ level of data protection, particularly to those in the US …"

This study received the Stefano Rodotà Award btw (see sectorplandls.nl/wordpress/unc…) – congrats to Konrad!

Remember that #PlayStore wanted to update/replace a bunch of apps installed from other sources such as #FDroid recently? Well, turns out someone found what triggers it and how it can be avoided, see github.com/jamie-mh/Authentica… for details.

Basically, the reason there was that AABs (the #Android App Bundles uploaded to Play) had a higher versionCode than the APKs distributed by the other sources. Still does not explain why Google ignored the "installer" property, though.
