@glaroc True, but that has a different purpose than this one. NVDA Remote is a standalone solution while this add-on adds support for remote protocols like Microsoft Remote Desktop, Citrix and VMware Horizon.

remote desktop? do you mean something that supports the remote desktop protocol? If not, what's the difference between this and nvda remote?
in reply to bgt lover

@bgtlover Yes. Data flows over a virtual channel in the remote desktop connection, not a separate channel that requires a server or opening a port like with NVDA Remote.
in reply to Peter Vágner

@pvagner @bgtlover Thanks! There was already a paid solution for this, but open source should be fully open source!
in reply to Leonard de Ruijter

@pvagner I did make a windows vm, however the problem is that I don't remember enough windows stuff to get to the point where I start a remote desktop session, I keep reaching for a terminal that's not there.
in reply to bgt lover

@bgtlover @pvagner You need to enable remote desktop support first. Search for remote in the windows settings (windows+i)

Really grateful for the help of @twynn who got the add-on working with VMware Horizon, though it needs some polishing due to occational connection dropouts. Nonetheless, this is amazing!
in reply to Leonard de Ruijter

No, thank you for such a useful add-on. It's too bad their phasing out VDI here pretty soon as they're providing company devices instead.
in reply to Timothy Wynn

@twynn Well, having a company device is usually better than VDI IMO, especially for blind people who need their screen reading software to work in these environments.
in reply to Leonard de Ruijter

Oh for sure, and I look forward to it, but it's funny that your add-on started existing at the tail end of my VDI use. It means that stress-testing probably won't happen on my end, though even when I was using VDI, it was just for payroll purposes. Everything else I used external services which are available outside their intranet. Best practices it wasn't, but it definitely kept me more efficient.
