I am excited to be presenting an accessibility workshop for #InnovateUS. I will be focusing on taking a role-based approach for accessibility. Subject-matter experts (SME) have their role, but too often responsibilities in government are hardened and accessibility becomes someone else's responsibility. Taking a role-based approach can fix barriers earlier in the project's lifecycle.

This looks super interesting. The tendency to split off responsibility for accessibility into a single position doesn't really seem to be working. And it clashes with the "shift left" philosophy that requires integration in the process all along the way.

Very interested to hear your ideas about a role-based approach.

I wonder if I can register if I'm no longer a public sector employee...😬 ?

Happy to update: I'm registered now, so evidently they've accepted my current status! Looking forward to it.
