Surprised that this was in the US. Not knowing anything else, I would have assumed it was the EU.

Also Google can dump $5 billion worth of data, and still be making money.

in reply to Tuta

How could you possibly ever verify that they erased the data completely and permanently?
in reply to Tuta

After all these ridiculous lawsuits the past decades, you'd wonder why people are still using ANY google services.
in reply to Tuta

let me guess: they now need to delete the data but all the trained models, rainbow tables and collected characteristics are still theirs to use, theirs to use alone and a competitive advantage against everybody law abinding.
in reply to Tuta

The fact that data can even be worth $5B is insane. Even more so when it's only a fraction of the data they're hoarding.
in reply to Tuta

Just because a court made a ruling doesn’t mean they’ll actually do it. When this much money is involved, I’d imagine you’d need to back this up with credible threats of state intervention, forced nationalisation, and violence directed at the top executives.

@RiaResists
People really thought this did anything more that keep their porn secret from their not tech savvy SOs or parents?
in reply to Tuta

that is it? No punishments to those money hungry product managers and their leadership?

Why do Peoople use Chrome or Chrome based browsers anyway 🤪 🙄 🤷
