OK, this is great. Just found an #iOS equivalent of #MacWhisper and it’s free. Not sure if it always is, but it certainly is right now.
It’s #Accessible and works well with #VoiceOver.

😀 Uhhh, at the risk of going in circles, what is it that this app does that Mac Whisper also does?
in reply to rooktallon

@rooktallon Transcribes speech to text better than Siri or Google likely ever will. Can export that to subtitles for youtube videos etc. Click the link and you can read about it for yourself. Easier than me trying to explain it.

Can I just tell you how much I love how specific I have to be every time I ask you a question? I don't know if it's a British thing but I like it.
in reply to Andre Louis

I'll check it out, but the old bit about "if you're not the customer, you're the product" applies. Apps cost money to make and maintain. If they aren't selling you the app, they're selling your data to someone else.
in reply to Bryan Smart

@bryansmart Read their practices I guess, you're likely used to such things. I already paid for MacWhisper so won't be using this too often, but it's there.
in reply to Andre Louis

Ah, my mistake. Thought this was a Chat GPT thing. Is just a transcript maker. Nice, I guess, but I don't have a use for one.
in reply to Bryan Smart

@bryansmart No, this is just transcription. I want to be more inclusive, so started using #MacWhisper for my youtube videos, so it's great for me.
in reply to Andre Louis

There's a medium model that's half the size and almost as accurate in English, so I wish it supported that. Otherwise, this looks really useful. I have a shortcut that sends audio files to the Whisper API but that isn't free, and it's obviously not as private. Thanks for this.
in reply to Andre Louis

This program has a Mac version as well where you can download many different models. Very impressive in my particular use cases so far.
in reply to Michael Marshall

@TheVoiceGuy You can with Mac Whisper too, I just bought Mac Whisper pro to support the dev.
in reply to Andre Louis

ahh, I didn’t know they had a pro version. What’s it like? Expensive?
