*None* of the #AI hardware including the Humane pin, Rabbit R1, this newly announced Frame glasses, or Facebook's glasses is accessible for #blind people. You'd think the interfaces would be made accessible. But none of these products have #accessibility built in for the setup or the connecting apps. In case you're wondering, I've specifically asked each of the companies.

Let's not forget that the iPhone wasn't either, and it still ended up being one of the biggest revolutions in blindness history. If we demanded or legally mandated accessibility from the start, it's highly lilkely that the thing wouldn't ever have been build. There's a story floating around, one whose veracity I unfortunately have no way to verify, that Nokia bought an iPhone on launch day, saw it fail the drop test and the keyboard accessibility test and said "nope, we're not allowed to do that here". Where is Nokia now?

@miki Except that Apple was working on its accessibility right from the start even though it wasn't ready. All of the devices I noted can't even bother to have their connecting apps be accessible. We're not in the same place when it comes to having system APIs that provide developers the ability to build in accessibility. So I'm less inclined to give these people any kind of pass. No excuses.
