Ok, #Thunderbird and #NVDA are having issues again. Updated to 139.0.2 and now when I delete an email the focus doesn't go to another email on the list view. There are also significant problems with the chat interface getting stuck and making NVDA hang.

Does this still happen with NVDA add-ons disabled? I just tried here with Thunderbird 139.0.2 and NVDA 2025.1.2 and I can arrow to a message, press delete and the message is deleted and focus moves to the next message.

(Also tested with NVDA 2025.2 Beta 1 and also working as expected, but I don't have any add-ons installed, so I would recommend disabling add-ons and testing to check if it still happens)

I can't try without add-ons right away, but I will when I can. As far as I know I don't have any add-on that might interfere, but I'll check.

Can any of you try to reproduce this with NVDA 2025.1.2 and Thunderbird?
1. Start a new message.
2. Type anything in the body of the message.
3. Do CTRL+Shift+A, attach a file.
4. It will move the focus to the attachments, so tab back to the body.
5. Try to review anything you typed in the body of the message.

Does this work for you? Any time I do exactly these steps, it breaks and I've been trying to track it down.

I remember having this problem with earlier versions of Thunderbird, but it seems to have been fixed lately. Thunderbird 140.0 works fine for me.

Oh, mine's seemingly stuck on version 128., and there's nothing in the help menu to make it upgrade beyond that point. Am I missing something?

Usually if you go to Alt+h, a for the about page, it usually checks for updates then and offers anything new. Otherwise, you could go to thunderbird.net/en-US/download… and download manually

Yeah, Help>About said it was on ESR and didn't offer an update, so I went to the site even before you sent this, and installed 140. That helps. I was concerned I'd have to set up all over again but thankfully it was an in-place upgrade. Glad for that...

I meant to say I'm pretty sure it just installs over the top of itself like NVDA does. ESR is Extended Support Release - so that's probably why you weren't offered an update.
