Those last few episodes are so sad to watch, seeing everything winding down and familiar characters moving on. Honestly, I often skip "Sleeping in Light" as it's too difficult to watch. #Babylon5

Coming to the end of a rewatch of #Babylon5. As I watch G'kar's closing message to Ta'lon (including his mention of what he was like when he first arrived… oh, memories of the first few episodes!), I suddenly realize:

The two shows are almost completely dissimilar, *but*… his arc reminds me of Eleanor Shellstrop's in #TheGoodPlace. Both have that thing where the person they become by the end has grown *so much*, it's nearly impossible to put into words. It aches.

To my followers: whenever I post about a TV show or a book, such as Doctor Who or Babylon 5, I'll try to remember to add relevant hashtags, such as #DoctorWho or #Babylon5 to allow those who are not interested in those topics to filter them out.

In addition to being a fan of #DoctorWho I am also a fan of #Babylon5, a wonderful science fiction series which aired in the 1990s. Like other franchises, B5 did have some spin-off novels, though nowhere near the amount of books that we have from other franchises, such as Doctor Who and Star Trek. Unlike those two franchises, there are no more B5 novels being written and the ones which were available are sadly out of print.
I have been slowly making my way through the B5 novels. Today, I just finished reading "Casting Shadows" by Jeanne Cavelos, which is the first book of a trilogy called "the Passing of the Techno-mages." In this first book, we learn quite a lot about the techno-mage order and a lot more about the technology that they use to do what seems like magic. We meet Elric, a member of the techno-mage's inner circle, and his apprentice Galen, whom we later see in the spin-off series "Crusade."
This book explains why the techno-mages decided to leave once they became aware of the existence of an ancient enemy. This is a great prequel to the second season B5 episode "the Geometry of Shadows" and any fan of B5 should consider reading this book.

Rewatching #Babylon5 yet again. To me, the show is comfort food. Still my all-time favorite SF series along with #DoctorWho.

I just watched #Babylon5 The Road Home again and I am still thrilled that it exists. Whatever else 2023 was, it was also the year we got new Babylon 5 for the first time in over 15 years.
