I decided to start Babylon 5 for the first time a few days ago. It's interesting but disconcerting interacting with a futuristic federation-style space series that isn't Star Trek. #scifi #tv

Last weekend the Open Film Database (ofdb.cc) received another update, which included the migration from #WordPress (Blog) and #DokuWiki (Wiki) to #Drupal, front-end improvements for TV shows, improved cast editing, and more!

The #OFDb is a database for movies and TV shows with its data published under an open license (Open Database License). Everyone can participate and add more titles. The more the merrier!

Have you seen Callsheet? It’s an iOS app for movie and tv information. It’s a better version of IMDB. I finally took the time to review it. It’s awesome! Why did I wait so long? Nicely done @caseyliss !!

Space, the final frontier. Our solar system is in space, right? This BBC series gets into the nitty gritty of Earth, asteroids, moons and the other planets near us. Maybe it doesn't sound like edge of your seat stuff but Brian Cox does his best to keep your attention. Cox simplifies complicated concepts while he tries to figure out how life began here while postulating about where else life could be found. BBC 2 on iPlayer.

Interesting to read about this new adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Although... am I the only one who remembers ABC radio's Doctor Who parody 'Doctor Poo', and his epic adventure involving 20,000 *Legs* Under the Sea? (It was piloted by the evil Captain Kneemoss - so called because he had moss on his knees).

Just me?

Today, June 26, 2010 is the wedding date of the Eleventh Doctor's companions Amy Pond and Rory Williams (Doctor Who, “Flesh and Stone”, “The Big Bang”, 2010)

"I deleted keys generated by our TV for 5 straight minutes. 5 Minutes of like 200BPM clicking. I restarted. Everything worked again. I laughed so hard I cried. I felt like I'd solved a murder."

Tech people, THIS IS A GREAT FANTASIC READ!!!

The title is, "DO NOT BUY HISENSE TV'S"

What I love about #ThreeBody is that it shows countries around the world working together with China to defeat this threat. They are all equals in this conflict. There was a conversation between our main lead with one of the leaders of a European nation which I found moving. It showed that they were both humans with loved ones to protect.
I have real worries that Netflix adaptation would forgo this cooperative element and paint some countries as baddies.

My imaginary children aren’t using your streaming service

Whenever I start up Netflix, I'm asked if I want to create an account for my children.

I don't have children. I don't want children. I find most children annoying - not yours, obviously, yours are lovely. But I resent being asked every single time whether my imaginary kids want an account. It's ju

As the app that is the star of today's window has updated on my phone today, let me introduce you to Greta, the German app for audiodescription, closed captions and other forms of accessibility in movies.
It works by first downloading an encrypted, I believe, copy of the movie's audio and then when we want to watch it described or subtitled, we just start the app, let it listen to the sound around us and it will tune in at the right spot in time with the accessibility accommodations we need. Should you forget your headphones to hear the audiodescription in, you can still listen to it over the earpiece. The system is not context-aware so it can tune into the movie at a cinema or at home when watching on the Internet or on TV which gives universal access to all the accommodations. The only wish I would have is more independent cinema productions and the ability to combine multiple adjustments so that I could watch that movie with a lot of Austrian dialect in it with both audiodescription and subtitles.
Today's update brings sound amplification. If I understand correctly, you can also have the actual audio track of the movie played through your phone in sync with the original.
I believe the concept was replicated in other countries already so you might know it under another name.

Mindblowing 🤯

#Whisper is an #openSource #speechRecognition model written in #Python by #OpenAI. I’ve just seen it in action. Extract an #mp3 from a video, run it through Whisper, and it turns every spoken word into text. It even does a very decent job in #Danish. Perfect for subtitling #TV and #video. I am very impressed.
