Time for another #FediBlock round:

marsey.moe: new Soapbox instance that appears to be the new home of boks.moe after the latter got filtered by OpenDNS. It’s close to the the.asbestos.cafe/glee.li communities. If you suspended boks.moe, you might want to consider this one.

  • Receipts for racism and other bigotry from the old instance: one, two, three, four, five. Paulo is the admin and Tomato has staff privileges; both are on marsey.moe now.
  • More receipts in the quoted post at the end, but many of the links probably won’t work anymore unless your instance has cached the posts.

freespeech.fans: freeze peach.

  • “About” page says: “Free Speech Fans is a server for those of us that want to speak and live freely. There is no need to fear being deplatformed or canceled here. If our discourse offends you then you must remember that being here is a choice.”
  • No rules beyond US law.

kyun.host: subdomains m and ck.

  • A lot of r/drama-like “ironic” bigotry against Romani, trans, and other groups.
  • Feel free to scroll through admin account “naphtha” on either instance for more receipts.

RE: pleroma.envs.net/objects/e7adb…

Some #FediBlock entries:

plagu.ee: same reasons as ryona.agency.

  • Block notification bot, so don’t block individual users yourself if your instance federates blocks (Mastodon does by default). Also rejects deletes.
  • Racial slurs in the keyword policies (instance-wide word replacements).
  • Appears to be run by “mint”, the admin of ryona.agency and current maintainer of FBA (the blocklist scraper + search engine + notifier). My reasoning: it’s the same username, mutuals with each other, same custom MRF policies, same circle of friends, and the user is known for having many alts with the same username. Check mint on ryona.agency if you need more receipts.

boks.moe: hosts users from bae.st, breastmilk.club, rdrama.cc, beefyboys.win, etc. and making troll accounts on other instances.

  • Racial slurs in concerning contexts: from an admin, same admin and a user, again.
  • Creating troll accounts on another instance with the intention of rule-breaking for the lulz. Follow-up.
  • While this instance doesn’t appear to be intended for block-evasion, it has (probably unintentionally?) had that effect since most members come from widely-suspended instances and have appeared in the mentions of some friends of mine who had blocked their original homes. Them getting frustrated prompted me to post this a bit earlier than I planned to.

PS: if anyone I know would like to help find evidence of a very large Fedi server using bespoke methods to secretly filter anti-Threads topics from users’ feeds, get in touch in DMs and I may connect you to someone.

lots of people I like a lot on mstdn.social. However they also have Charlie Kirk. I'm blocking the whole instance. You should too. #Fediblock

Edit: His account HAS been suspended. However, in the Tusky app and in the Megalodon app, his account is visible, as are his posts, and I can still reply to him.

@megalodon and @Tusky this seems like a serious problem

E.g. eldritch.cafe/@SallyStrange/11…

PSA: It looks like mastodon.social has implemented hCAPTCHA on their signups yesterday.

So, if you have limited / suspended mastodon.social because of the spam issue, you may wish to reconsider this.

This will also likely mean that spammers will move to different instances (already seeing them targeting mastodon.world).

You may wish to consider implementing hCAPTCHA yourself to protect your own instance, and here is the relevant PR:

github.com/mastodon/mastodon/p…

The reason I'm suggesting this, is because if you are a small/medium instance with open registrations, and spammers find and abuse your instance, I imagine that other instances will limit/suspend your instance without hesitation, given how willing some were to limit/suspend the much larger mastodon.social.

But do note this comment on the PR:

“To give some context to people seeing this: this is an emergency feature backport from Glitch SOC to help mitigating an ongoing spam wave, this feature may not make it in a next release, or with significative changes.”

#MastoAdmin #FediAdmin #fediblock

I made a #Fediblock post about this account several days ago, along with tagging the admin of mstdn.party but this account is still up and continually denying the racism of police violence.

TootUncommon @ mstdn.party keeps replying to posts about racist policing by going "what about white people?" And saying that police violence against white people happens just as often but isn't talked about.

I don't know if mstdn.party is effectively unmoderated or just condones this racist nonsense, but I suggest a fediblock of the instance to protect users from racist harassment.

To give context for the screenshots, they appear to be arguing that police murdering Black people is not racist because Black people commit more crimes, as if that data isn't also indicative of racism.

#Fediblock

Block @ TootUncommon @ mstdn.party for anti-Blackness

Specifically jumping into conversations about anti-Blackness saying that Black people should stop talking about it because other people exist.

Also arguing that racism is not a factor in police violence against Black people because it happens to white people too.
mstdn.party/@TootUncommon/1097…

A really disgusting reply to someone discussing anti-Blackness:

This account is still up on mstdn.party and currently defending fucking Kyle Rittenhouse. Check the replies.

If you haven't blocked mstdn.party yet or at least this fucking account @ TootUncommon @ mstdn.party

You really really should

#Fediblock

recommend blocking lgbtqia.space, given that this is their fucking admin #fediblock

#fediblock: mastinator.com

Grabs all your content and reposts under an account you don't own but has your name.

Also block the creator: boyter.org

From a conversation he had it's clear he doesn't understand consent nor wants to learn: mastodon.ar.al/@boyter@honk.bo…

Got another for the #fediblock trash pile

federated[DOT]fun seems to be an instance that traffics in homophobic and ableist humor and is quite friendly with a number of known awful instances.

Recommend a hard block on this one because of course #ItsAlwaysPleroma

After seeing how the admin of gladtech[DOT]social handled a recent situation with a racist user, I'm going to recommend blocking that instance.

After admitting a user had multiple reports of racist behavior and using an ai generated of a Black woman to do it behind, it was deemed that they would be allowed to stay on that instance.

This is unacceptable for a couple of reasons. To give a racist the benefit of the doubt after multiple infractions only invites that behavior to continue. And secondly, hiding your identity behind the face of a generated face of the people you are targeting implies a nefarious attempt to avoid consequences and is inherently a bad faith practice of a person who is anti-black and only seeks to cause harm.

Taking the word of a bigot after multiple infractions and deciding there should be no consequences and not limiting their ability to harass others simply invites more hateful behavior to continue and makes the fedi less safe.

Raspberry Pi is really proud of hiring "a policeman & it's going really great" who "was a surveillance officer for 15 years" and built covert surveillance equipment. RPi dismisses the very thing they're so proud of as "he built lightsabers [as toys]. Chill."). Dear reader, it must be remarked that the concern is not his rad lightsaber toys (which, to be clear, are rad). The concern is that he's got experience in surveillance equipment, and the company is proud to have hired him for it, and proudly blocking everyone who expresses the slightest concern about it instead of being even remotely willing to listen and understand why people are skeeved out, even people who aren't on the ACAB train and are gently voicing concerns with a surveillance cop potentially having the keys to their hardware/software.

This is not the behavior of a company that's concerned about privacy, security, trust, or autonomy, and I don't think this company can or should be trusted to remain federated with instances that want to be welcoming to marginalized people or anti-authoritarians.

Really hate to say it, because I've used and loved RPis for several years now, but if nothing else, please use a different SBC from now on. There are many options out there that aren't so eager to insult you for having concerns about security.

Pls be aware that a notable transphobe has recently signed up ie angi@home.social. Little activity so far

Real life = Angi Mansi, who's known by the trans community. She's one of a few who go as far as calling for the repeal of legal gender change in the UK

gcritical.org/2020/10/05/the-g…

Big picture, this type is about as toxic as it gets for us as a trans community. On @tech.lgbt she's been blocked, I'd ask that you consider the same, or at least keeping a very close eye here

A new instance recently sprung up advertising itself as queer, sex worker friendly, and body positive, but it displays a number of flagrant red flags that merit distrust.

1. PinkSheep dot org uses Soapbox, a fork of Pleroma made by notorious TERF Alex Gleason.
2. Its TOS offers no indication that the admin has researched the legal challenges involved in making a sex-worker-safe space.
3. Its federated timeline, visible at /timeline/fediverse, includes posts from toxic shitposting instances such as refusal.biz - content warning: rape joke pinksheep.org/@rats@refusal.bi…

#fediblock

I'm a little surprised to see a lot of people posting domains in #FediBlock that any competent admin should have blocked on day 1.

Start with the weirder.earth suggested instance blocks, which are generally bigger/more active ones: github.com/weirderearth/weirde…

Tenforward.social has a much longer list with links to admin announcements, with reasons: wiki.tenforward.social/doku.ph…

Here's the current flipping.rocks list: flipping.rocks/about/more#unav…

The admin of journa.host is publicly using and linking a scraping utility to track what instances have silenced or suspended his own.

This scraping utility is using code created by Kiwi Farms, and is hosted on the same domain as an instance he himself has suspended. So he'll suspend the instance because others have - but he's happy to use something they host.

In my opinion, this information has destroyed any good will he might have had left.
