There is a feather out of place.

I like the way the crest looks on this female northern cardinal. I didn't notice the odd feather on the wing until I started processing the photograph. It makes me wonder if something happened or did, I just catch her before her all fixed up for the day. A fun thing about spring is everything turns green, a really nice background for bird photos.

This is a female northern cardinal. She is standing on some brick pavers that I put down years ago to define my bird feeder area in the middle of the yard. Some of the rough brick color and texture is visible through the green grass. The background of this picture is mostly very green grass. The cardinal is facing right with her right side facing the camera. The cardinal's crest i very prominent and pretty. A dark purple front edge sticks straight up from the top of her thick conical orange beak. The crest tapers like a fan to the back of her head and the color quickly fades from the dark front edge to orange, then gets lighter until it blends with her light brownish orange face and body. There is a black ring that circles her beak, and her black eye appears to stare forward. Her right wing, that lays neatly against her body, is a mixture of orange and black, but there appears to be a purplish feather out of place at the shoulder. Her orangish tail sticks straight back parallel with the ground. Pink legs reach down to feet that are hidden by grass.

This lighthouse is SO UNIQUE! It's called Þrídrangar, which means "three rock pillars". It is located 4.5 miles (7.2 kilometres) off the southwest coast of Iceland, in the archipelago of Vestmannaeyjar, often described as the most isolated lighthouse in the world. The lighthouse was built there in 1939.

It's such a INCREDIBLE location for a lighthouse, perched on a rock in Iceland's wild surf. Originally constructed and accessible only by scaling the rock on which it is situated, it is now accessible by helicopter since the construction of a helipad.
