#Carney ran on a build Canada platform that hasn't proposed any real nation building, rather we get pandering to foreign petro oligarchs.

Here's some nation building actions that should already be underway:
1. Get our govt data out of the USA. House it in the EU until we have a domestic datacentre.
2. Get schools across the nation off american software and networks. Like stop forcing my kid to use an enemy chromebook. This will take a large investment in infrastucture to update schools.
3. Retrofit schools, colleges and universities with renewable energy and batteries. Gift the installs and equipment to help reduce school electricity costs (and work toward climate action).
4. Similarly assist FN and especially Inuit communities getting off diesel generators. The soot is speeding melting in the Arctic.
5. Like the national railway that our ancestors built, build a national fleet of electric truck-trains (truck with 7-10 reefers). The railways are often plugged and reducing productivity.

So #Carney axed the carbon tax, 'paused' the EV mandate, and is keen to waive reviews of pipeline propsals to get more built faster. Do the #Liberals have a climate policy anymore?

The Carney government's suspension of the EV mandate has nothing to do with โ€œpragmatismโ€ or โ€œmoderationโ€ as I heard an interviewee say on the CBC this morning.

It's about the Ontario car industry realizing they don't make EVs or even Hybrids that can compete with Korea, Japan, or Europe (let alone China).

People want them. BC is at 20% new (the mandated level), Quebec is at 30%. Those are the #2 and #3 most populous provinces in Canada btw.

It's politics, and... specifically with Carney, cowardice, nothing else. BCโ€™s Energy Minister Adrian Dix called it out

โ€œI want to say this: Their target for this year, we achieved four years ago,โ€ Dix said of the existing federal electric vehicle mandates. โ€œThe issue here in Canada -- and I think the federal government needs to engage in this a little bit -- is first and foremost with Ontario.โ€
