Ben-Gurion was at Yazur that afternoon. Within minutes, at 13:30 hours, just as the shooting was dying down, Operation Dani HQ issued the following order to Yiftah Brigade HQ:
1. The inhabitants of Lydda must be expelled quickly without attention to age. They should be directed towards Beit Nabala. Yiftah [Brigade HQ] must determine the method and inform [Operation] Dani HQ and 8th Brigade HQ.
