Why is bodily autonomy and freedom so important when you don’t want to wear a mask - but when mask bans are brought up it’s “too bad - just stay home.” If you believed it was unfair to deny you access without a mask - it’s unfair to tell us to stay home because we need a mask?

I’m beyond sick of the inconsistencies. People who felt that being told to wear a mask to enter public spaces are now CELEBRATING the possibility masks may become banned. They think disabled people “deserve it” because we made them mask.

So it’s infringement of bodily autonomy to have to wear a mask during the height of a global pandemic - but it’s NOT an infringement to force infection on high risk individuals who may not survive it? Eugenics is alive and well.

Do take the time to read this brilliant piece.

It contains excellent explanations on the spread of COVID mutations/variants, why vaccination alone isn't the answer, why we should continue to mask and negative communications.

a friend and I were talking about COVID precautions and they just sent me this paper which appears to raise concerns about safety and efficacy of wearing masks for COVID - does anyone here know anything about this paper + what conclusions should be drawn from it? I feel like there's probably *something* wrong with it given it very much is the consensus in communities I'm in (that seem to pay lots of attention to the literature) that wearing masks is a good precaution to take against COVID, but I'm not sure how to respond. is there a good analysis of the paper somewhere or anything like that?

You can't really call yourself an inclusive community if you ignore the inconvenient folks.

You certainly can't call your community events inclusive if you won't consider robust policies for public health and community safety.

Especially if you also can't enforce those policies.

Folks will know not to contribute because they were an afterthought. They will not submit papers to conferences that will not state from the outset their public health policy.

It won't be safe.

Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman, who identified a chemical tweak to messenger RNA that laid the foundation for vaccines against #Covid19, were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology/ Medicine.

As this photo shows, both scientists are wearing masks and NOT relying on the "vax and relax".

Pro-tip for # vendors & sponsors in the #:

A social media pic of your booth staff w/smiling unmasked faces does not make me want to drop by during the next break.

A free infection with #, with a chance of long-term injury/disability, is just not the compelling free swag you may think it is.
