What's your opinion on doing this for web apps like Gmail, Twitter, Mastodon, etc.? In these cases, I tend to think of the app as a semi-permanent thing with its own context, not a transient thing that I return to with the back button. Pressing enter on a link and having it effectively replace my email/social media app seems super counter-intuitive to me. The exceptions don't quite cover that.

@jcsteh That use case does not sound arbitrary. Seems straightforward to test with users.
