If I can still get in there (who knows, I installed SUSE on top of WSL at two in the morning one day a few weeks back), I'm going to set up VXSrv and then Nautilus on top of it. I would love to see how something superior to File Explorer will work on Windows.

Kat Moss
@Nuno That's CLI, isn't it? (I always seemingly have trouble with the whole concept of a CLI GUI like that. I'm not used to command line ,emis/
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Interesting... I forgot it existed. Though I'll still play with Nautilus; I'm still interested in X11 forwarding and how that works with screen readers. I haven't seen anything about it.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno What sorts of issues will I be expecting with X11? I want to know what I'm up against so that when I do a Peertube video later tonight, I don't alert people to things they already know about.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Interesting... I forgot that PulseAudio was a thing... or I didn't think it pertained when dealing with forwarding... I guess that would make sense. Because X11 forwarding could be compared to the virtual application experience you get via something like Citrix, right?
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno that seems to be more common on Linux than it does on Windows. Source code building, that is.

Kat Moss
@Nuno It's like what mastodon does for Twitter, but for videos.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Nope. You can just input that name into the follow user dialog in TweeseCake and hit okay. You don't need the trailing @ symbol in that case.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Yeup. It's just like following anyone on any activitypub powered service.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Mastodon is a particular software. There are lots of other services and softwares that use it's protocol. Mastodon allows short posts because it's meant to be a decentralized alternative to Twitter. the protocol behind it is called Activitypub
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Lots of things are. Then there are lots of forks of each different application.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Peertube is the AP protocol used to display videos; well, it uses a combination of AP and WebTorrent.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Privacy has less to do with it than some of the advocates would lead you to believe.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno It's more just an advancement in technology and people saying enough with three main companies running the entire social experience for absolutely everyone.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Some web applications definitely do suck, I'll give you that.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Most of the open source ones are pretty good; though I prefer standard desktop applications to those on the web, honestly.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno I mean, other than a centralized service... What do you expect? Software requires servers.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Well... I'm not much of a Discord fan, myself. I mean, I use it, but I don't like it due to the reputation of the company involved.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno It is... I'll give you that. But Discord is also not open source, so even if we wanted to, we couldn't fix it.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno there is, though not sure how good it is. It's called Guilded, and then there is the Matrix protocol, which is sort of like Discord, but decentralized. Element is the most widely used client. Accessible, but not optimal.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno Walebird is actually pretty good. Sengi is even better.
Unknown parent

Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno You could do that, considering there is a client library that's been recently updated.
Unknown parent

Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno True. I don't see why using libraries that have functions to make things simpler though is a problem. I see it in some instances, but not in others.
Unknown parent

Kat Moss
@Nuno True. I guess I like to learn, too, but I'm not going to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to. I'm also a C# learner, as well.
in reply to Kat Moss

@Kat Moss I can see single channel with one public video there published almost year ago. Do you have more videos?
in reply to Peter Vágner

@pvagner @Nuno Not yet, but I will. And yes, you're unfortunately correct regarding the time frame. I've been horrible about publishing stuff.
in reply to Peter Vágner

@pvagner @Nuno Other problem is I want to have several channels, but I can't find an appropriate image for each.

@Arkadiusz Świętnicki 🇨🇳 @Kat Moss #Pinafore is not #Electron based. It's single page web app best used in your browser. This one is really clever, simple and accessible. It's not bloatware either.

Peter Vágner
@Arkadiusz Świętnicki 🇨🇳 I'm not making videos. If you would like to see the video created by @Kat Moss simply load this page in your browser tube.tchncs.de/c/life_vlogs/vi…
in reply to Kat Moss

@Kat Moss I'd say concentrate more on your content and use default image until you'll manage to build some fan base.

@Arkadiusz Świętnicki 🇨🇳 @Kat Moss Oh btw guys, we might have hit a #TweeseCake bug. When replying to multiple people single mention is used multiple times.
