a wonderful option I've been using for a while to not go mad with YouTube and it's ads is freetube. But if they indeed make ads part of the video, that to will most likely perish:(

I use Grayjay (grayjay.app). It is a wonderfull app that combines multiple video platforms like youtube, peertube, nebula, patreon into 1 app. Beside chromecast it also offers Fcast, an opensource casting solution. As of now, grayjay still offers no ads on youtube. It use grayjay on my phone to stream to my tv (linux computer)

the question should be. Is it even possible to enjoy youtube with ads? I've always found them annoying and never helpful... If there is no way around the ads... Then I'm probably not going to watch youtube anymore.

Soon you will be watching ads during embedded ads during creator sponsor ads. Just to pay for the hosting costs for AI spam content.

so YouTube could be said to be editing content creator's video to contain their add?

I understand that hosting costs money. Google makes money on collecting your data, to spool out Ads that may match your profile ... I can certainly live with a couple of secs for Ads upfront. The recent amount of Ads is coming closer and closer to the tipping point where I will be fed up and go away.
