It's Thursday, and we've got a Thunderbird two in one tip! If you use tags to organize your emails, today's tips are all about activating and moving tags in the Folder Pane.

1. Click the Folder Pane Menu (three dots on right side of 'New Message') 📁
2. Hover over Folder Modes ➡️
3. Enable Tags ✅

Want to move the tags around? Click on the vertical three-dot Tags menu to shift them up or down.

I love, love, LOVE my #Thunderbird tags! (especially with the filters I've set up to delete messages after a period of time, eg "Keep for 1 week/month/3 months" then delete unless starred etc).

Can't wait for tags+filters to make their way over to #ThunderbirdMobile / #K9 mail!

@Blort Oooooh, that's a productivity two-fer! Thanks for sharing that bonus tip with us - we might have to start using it ourselves!

tags are great if combined with filters, but I'd appreciate the possibility to sort them as I prefer in the tags list, and assign them the shortcut number I want, to tag single emails excaping filter rules. this, and filter/tag sync on android will definitely be the game changer I need

I didn't yet. I did it now, but noticed -after giving the feedback- that there are similar ideas submitted already. Definitely hope to see it implemented, and definitely hope to find it on mobile too, as soon as k9 turns into TB and sync starts working.

@melocipede Excellent! There's a good chance your suggestion and the others might get merged, which makes it easier for the next person and lets us know that there's more demand for this feature. But seriously, thanks for adding your official feedback!

This is new to me, and would be useful.
But I find that when I select a tag, the message list is empty until I disable the Quick Filter. I can enable it again and still see the messages.

@bigblen If you haven't searched it or posted your question there already, this would be a great question for SUMO (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird#search). If you can include your OS, Thunderbird version, any add-ons, if you tried Troubleshoot Mode, and include any screencaps (for example, your quick filter setup) this would encourage replies - and help the next person with this issue - or help determine if it's a bug that needs fixing!
