We’ve just committed $1.3B to address a made-up problem, based on the impulsive musings of a compulsive liar.

I can just see the convicted felon bragging to his crony pals about how when he says ‘jump’ Canada asks ‘how high?’.

And he’ll slap us with tariffs anyhow, because it was never about the border. 🤦‍♂️

@Crispius @stephanie I wonder if that's why Chrystia Freeland said "fuck this". Because as a key negotiator in the previous trade deal (that fucked us on copyright) she knows...

Courage isn't an attribute of our class of politicians

(and just to put it into context, PP would bend even further)

My [completely amateur & speculative] take on this whole debacle is that there has been a plan to replace JT in the works for quite a while, and it involves crowning Mark Carney as JT’s replacement. (Somebody on here called it Ignatieff 2.0 and I think the that’s pretty accurate.)

Whether or not JT is in on the plan is unclear.

I think Freeland either caught wind of the plan, or Carney wrote some/all of the financial statement and she refused to put her name to it. Either way, Freeland smells blood in the water and decided to use the opportunity to establish herself as distinct and separate from the PM and prepare for her candidacy in the oncoming leadership challenge.

I expect JT to step down at some point, but something needs to be done about getting Carney a seat in the house, so that might determine the timeline.

I suspect a prorogation of parliament will happen at some point to allow the liberals to select a leader before the writ is dropped.
