#LibreOffice 24.2.7 is now available – the final planned update to the 24.2 branch, which reaches end-of-life in November. After that, all users are recommended to upgrade to the new stable branch, LibreOffice 24.8: blog.documentfoundation.org/bl… #foss #opensource #freesoftware

Simple spreadsheet with few thousand rows. LibreCalc takes about 2GB of RAM and is slugish while Excel takes about 95 MB and works like a charm. 😭

xlsx, Libre on RHEL 9 (flatpak, so latest, greatest version), versus Excel 2019 on Windows 10.

@mcn Can you provide the actual version number of LibreOffice? Also, .xlsx is Microsoft's format. If you save the file in LibreOffice's format (the open and standardised ODF, so .ods) then close LibreOffice and open the .ods, is there a difference?

Version 24.2.7.2 is a little bit better - only 1GB of RAM, even with ods file. It is really sad that in comparision to Excel, overall responsivnes is unacceptable in real business environment ☹️
