I love this. I'm also honestly not sure I could've balanced all the harmonies this well. I would've put the instrumental a bit louder so the vocals don't float above it as much, but that's a preference thing. It sounds great. Nice and compressed but also dynamic so the quiet parts are quiet like they should be.

@simon A decent microphone, excellent mic technique and of course an exceptional performance made it quite easy. And several covers to fine tune the mix and improve with each one. The only thing I realize now that I might have done is add a slight bit more de-essing and maybe increase the reverb ever so slightly in the big harmonies in the middle. I was contemplating the volume of the background track, but I found this way the vocals and instrumentation kind of weave in and out of each other nicely without a lot of volume automation. A lot of this is personal preference of course but overall I think I’ve found something that works quite well for us but naturally I’m always open for suggestions. But let’s be real here I’m not the reason this is as good as it is. That’s all her.
